Planning a boarding school stay in the UK.

We have spent 30 years helping families find the right British boarding school, get in, and make the most of the experience. We help with what takes time and expertise: the application, the visa, the guardian, the subject choices that determine what comes after. And we stay with you until your child comes home.

Family-run.

Glasmacher was founded in 1996 by Barbara Glasmacher and is now led by her two daughters Theresa Glasmacher and Virginia Jakob. Together with their team, they guide around 500 pupils a year to British boarding schools.

What does the application process with you look like in practice?

This is how it works: Personal consultation, submission of documents, selection of suitable schools, school visits or online interviews, entrance tests where required, followed by the school's offer. We guide you through every step and are always ready to help.

What does the Glasmacher service cost?

The initial consultation is always free. Our fee applies from the point at which we send you our school recommendations and begin organising appointments with the schools. It is a one-off charge of €476 including VAT, covers the entire family and includes younger siblings at no additional cost.

What costs should we expect regarding boarding school fees and additional expenses?

Fees typically run between £15,000 and £22,000 per term, or roughly €52,000 to €75,000 per year. That covers tuition, accommodation, meals, sport and most activities. On top of that, families should budget for a registration fee and deposit, school uniform, a visa for stays of 1,5 terms or more, flights and personal expenses. A higher fee does not automatically mean a better school. Location, infrastructure and financial reserves all affect the number. We help you read those figures with the right context.

Relationships that open doors.

Our relationships with around 200 partner schools have grown over decades and benefit our families during the application process.

At many schools, Glasmacher students benefit from a simplified admissions process. Some schools waive entrance tests entirely for our candidates, because they trust our selection.

Next steps.

A personal first meeting, free of charge.

We get to know you and your child: interests, strengths, how they learn, what they need, and what your family is looking for in terms of location, school size and culture. We talk through timing, duration, subject choices, recognition in Germany and costs. Everything that goes into making the right decision together.

Things to prepare
