Theresa Glasmacher has been working for Barbara Glasmacher Internationale Schulberatungs GmbH since 2006, since 2013 also as Managing Director. She knows boarding school life well from her own time at Sevenoaks School. This was followed by a banking apprenticeship and political studies at the London School of Economics and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston. When her mother Barbara first started the business in 1996, Theresa had just received her Master's Degree in History and Environmental Politics and decided very spontaneously to take a year off to set up the office structures and routines.
Theresa worked in the environmental sector from 1998 to 2005, mainly in the development and implementation of large EU-funded projects in the area of climate change. In 2006, she returned to work in the family education business. After many years of joint management with her mother, she is now the sole managing director. Theresa is married and has two sons.
The company Barbara Glasmacher Internationale Schulberatungs GmbH was founded in 1996. Barbara Glasmacher’s profound knowledge of the British school system goes back to the days when she was researching suitable British boarding schools for her own four daughters.
Turning this knowledge to her professional advantage she has now been consulting parents on the best choice of boarding school for their children for over 20 years. Hundreds of very happy students are the fruit of her work.
Barbara Glasmacher stepped down from her active role as managing director of the GmbH in 2021, but will remain closely associated with the company as an advisor.
