An increasing number of international students attend renowned British
boarding schools to embellish their school careers
This valuable experience offers them several benefits: they learn
English fluently which is a key skill for their future careers. Students
also broaden their horizons and become more independent and self-reliant.
Last but not least, they form international friendships, thereby building
a valuable network in today's multicultural society.
Switching to a boarding school in Britain has many advantages.
But not every boarding school is suited to every student. In choosing
the right school for a student, many factors need consideration, including
the student's unique personality, his or her strengths and weaknesses
and the specific choice of subjects. We have been working very closely
with over 170 boarding schools in
England, Scotland and Wales for many years. We visit
these schools regularly and only recommend those which we know personally.
In addition, we receive helpful feedback from students who have already
taken this step to switch to a British boarding school.
There is no simple or single answer to this question since
there are many possibilities depending on your expectations and on how much
you want to invest.
Spending one term (3 months) at a British
boarding school helps to improve English language skills and to get a taste
of life at a boarding school. Re-entering one's own school in the home country
after the term usually presents students with no problems whatsoever.
Students may choose to stay one year (3 terms) in order to perfect
their English language skills and to gain valuable learning skills for
their last years of school. Provided students select the right combination
of subjects in Britain, the return to their local high schools usually
runs smoothly.
Attending a British boarding school for the last two years of
school is the perfect way to finish off a school career. With the right
combination of subjects, the completion of A-Levels or the International
Baccalaureate (IB) allows students to study at universities all over the
world. In addition students learn to read, write and speak English fluently.
A word of warning: The experience can prove infectious. Time and again
students plan to stay just one term but may end up wanting to stay for
the whole two years.
