WHAT'S IT LIKE? / My Boarding School Experience
My Boarding School Experience
Sandra Spittler, Bradfield College from 2008 to 2009
"My experience in England was exciting and at the same time eye-opening and I am sure it will remain unforgotten. Through the clever choice of subjects I had no problems returning to my German school. Quite the contrary! I am ahead in my courses and will profit from this knowledge as well as from my broadened personality in the future. I recommend a stay abroad for everyone."
Fabian Roggemann, CATS Canterbury from 2007 to 2008
"Prior to my switch to England I was unmotivated, a chronic procrastinator and had no perspective. In Canterbury I was charmed by my teachers and the surroundings and I learned to realise some important things: What I enjoy doing, where my strengths and weaknesses lie and in which direction I would like to develop career-wise. Almost without noticing it I became fluent in English. And what is more I became more independent as a person."
Amelie Goltz, King William's College 2007 to 2009
"To begin with it seemed a bit strange to me to move to an island for two years. But today I have very fond memories of my time there. I was a member of the 1st hockey team and took part in a fantastic trip to Washington and New York at the time of the US elections with my history class. Through these activities I found some very close friends. The atmosphere in the boarding house and in the school at large was very family-like. I was impressed that the faculty members could be consulted regarding questions about courses at any time especially during the IB exam preparation time. Personally I can recommend this school to everyone."
Frederick Hagenauer, Clifton College from 2008 to 2010
"New students are integrated into the boarding school community at Clifton with ease and are met without prejudice. What surprised me most was that when my fellow housemates convinced me to try rugby I discovered that I actually liked it."
Sophie-Charlotte Kebekus, Lancing College from 2008 to 2009
"My expectations about life at a British boarding school were surpassed at Lancing College from the start. I received a warm welcome from my fellow students and soon found close friends, especially among the English students."
